Fodor's Review

Between mid-March and mid-June, this natural habitat of the elusive desert tortoise blazes with desert candles, primroses, lupine, and other wildflowers. Arrive bright and early to spot the state reptile, while it grazes on fresh flowers and grass shoots. The area is also a great spot to see desert kit fox, red-tailed hawks, cactus wrens, and Mojave rattlesnakes.
