Fodor's Review

To taste wines from grapes grown in Shasta and Tehama counties, head to this winery 11 miles south of Redding in Anderson. Co-owner Denise McLean, an eighth-grade math and science teacher, serves flights in test tubes, a fun touch, so her guests can pour and taste at their own pace. Her husband, Layne, a high school computer-science instructor who also teaches wine making at nearby Shasta College, crafts the Churn Creek wines, including a Shasta County Syrah, and the Master Craftsman "Super Tuscan" red blend. On Thursday and Friday the tasting room opens in the late afternoon (after school lets out).
