Ventura Travel Guide

Like Los Angeles, the city of Ventura enjoys gorgeous weather and sun-kissed beaches—but without the smog and congestion. The miles of beautiful beaches attract athletes—body-surfers and boogie boarders, runners and bikers—and those who'd rather doze beneath an umbrella all day. Ventura Harbor is home to myriad fishing boats, restaurants, and water-activity centers where you can rent boats and take harbor cruises. Foodies can get their fix all over Ventura—dozens of upscale cafés and wine and tapas bars have opened in recent years. Arts and antiques buffs have long trekked downtown to browse the galleries and shops here. One of the greatest perks of Ventura is its walkability. If you drive here, park your car in one of the free 24-hour parking lots sprinkled around the city and hoof it on foot, or board a free trolley that cruises from downtown along the waterfront (Thursday–Sunday 11 am –11 pm).
