Fodor's Expert Review Harbor Island
Restaurants and high-rise hotels dot the inner shore of this 1½-mile-long man-made peninsula adjacent to the airport. The bay's shore is lined with pathways, gardens, and scenic picnic spots. A pair of restaurants on the east end point, Island Prime and Coasterra (880 Harbor Island Dr., 619/298–6802, 619/814–1300, www.cohnrestaurants.com) offer killer views of the downtown skyline. On the west point, the restaurant Tom Ham's Lighthouse (2150 Harbor Island Dr., 619/291–9110, www.tomhamslighthouse.com) has a U.S. Coast Guard–approved beacon shining from its tower and a sweeping view of San Diego's bayfront.
