Fodor's Expert Review Pizzeria Mozza

This pizzeria by acclaimed chefs Nancy Silverton and Mario Batali, already a huge success in Los Angeles and Orange County, finally found a San Diego home in the new Headquarters downtown. Residents and visiting foodies gather indoors in a long room warmed by wood or outdoors on the small patio to enjoy the upscale Italian fare. Silverton’s small thin-crust pizzas crisped to perfection in a wood-burning oven include the classic Margherita, her famed fennel sausage with red onions and a meat-lovers pie with bacon, sausage, and pancetta. Begin the meal with antipasti, salads or bruschetta, but be sure to end with signature silky butterscotch budino.
