Fodor's Expert Review Croce's Park West
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The pioneer Gaslamp restaurant has new digs near Balboa Park, bringing supper-club glam to an upscale neighborhood eager for such grown-up fare. Rich woods, mood lighting, and comfy seating indoors and on the patio make it easy to linger while enjoying oysters from the raw bar and wines-by-the-glass from a Wine Spectator–lauded list. An Italian-accented menu offers whole and half portions of cherry-splashed duck confit, scallops with squash blossom risotto, or truffle-scented meatball linguini. Jazz bands perform Wednesday to Sunday at the far end of the dining room where owner Ingrid Croce pays homage to her late husband Jim Croce with a display of gold records and other memorabilia.
