Bali Hai
Fodor’s Expert Review
For more than 50 years, generations of San Diegans and visitors have enjoyed this Polynesian-theme icon with its stunning bay and city skyline views. Much of the kitsch has been replaced by contemporary decor, but you’ll still spot tikis here and there. The menu is a fusion of Hawaiian, Asian, and California cuisines with standouts like the Hawaiian tuna poke, Mongolian lamb with pad Thai, and pan-seared barramundi with a black vinegar reduction. Don't miss the world-famous (and potent) Bali Hai mai tai topped with a little umbrella. The lively Sunday buffet includes traditional breakfast fare like pancakes and frittatas, as well as a cold seafood bar, carving stations, and a DIY sundae bar, all with free-flowing champagne.
