McCaffrey House Bed and Breakfast Inn

23251 Hwy. 108, Twain Harte, California, 95383, USA

Surrounded by trees on the edge of the Stanislaus National Forest, McCaffrey's appeal lies in its remoteness. But it's well worth the drive (about 20 miles east of Jamestown on Highway 108 in the mountain community of Twain Harte) as the furnishings—and the innkeepers—are lovely. Each room has a private bath, a black-iron fire stove, and bed quilts that were made in Pennsylvania Amish country. Ask about the stand-alone, self-contained studio for even more privacy. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served in the afternoon; wine and cheese daily at 5 pm.
