The Spring, situated in the “Spa Zone” of Desert Hot Springs, is a mini-resort centered around a natural mineral spring where guests can soak in three separate pools of healing waters. With only 13 rooms, The Spring offers a semi-private oasis that’s conveniently located to Palm Springs and nearby desert hiking destinations.
Nine rooms face the courtyard for easy access to the pools. All rooms include iPod docks and stereos. Several rooms have kitchens and travelers can book adjoining rooms that share a kitchen. Two rooms, The Courtyard Suite and Room 9, have their own private patio mineral soaking tubs.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Pets and infants are allowed in the villas only. Other rooms and suites are open to neither dogs nor children.
Each private bathroom includes rain shower heads, robes, and slippers.
Guests are greeted by an open floorplan, where they can check into their rooms or for spa services. In an adjoining space, dubbed the Living Room, guests will also find breakfast, a fireplace, games, and books and publications perfect for curling up on the couch to read.
The Spring offers two smaller soaking pools, one indoor and one outdoor. There’s also a larger swimming pool that makes up the bulk of the courtyard space. The area is dotted with lounge chairs, hammocks, and other welcoming spaces to invite guests to relax.
The spa offers services like massage, salt scrubs, facials, nail care, and other body treatments. Day Spa passes are also available to those not staying at the hotel for access to the geothermal pools and sauna.
Yoga is offered on Saturday and Sunday during the busy season (December to June).
Guests are invited to a daily continental breakfast in the Living Room. Many rooms also include kitchens.
If you’re staying in a room or suite with a kitchen, order groceries ahead of time and you’ll arrive to find a fully stocked refrigerator.
On-site parking is available, including a Tesla charging station. The resort also partners with Tesloop, a service providing Tesla transportation from various Los Angeles and Orange County locations.
For an unpretentious and well-priced but filling breakfast, head over to The Cottage Too (5-minute drive), a good spot to hit up before a long hike at one of the valley’s nearby nature preserves. Find straightforward Mexican food at Las Palmas (5-minute drive), decent sushi at Sushi Domo (4-minute drive), or excellent Thai options at Thai Palms (5-minute drive).
The uncomplicated Dillon’s Burgers and Beers (10-minute drive) offers a full bar and live entertainment. For an upscale experience, visit Essense (3-minute drive), the restaurant and bar at Two Bunch Palms, a neighboring hotel and hot springs spa.
