With five restaurants, a full casino, and a theater with names like Brad Paisley on the marquis, this resort is a tiny slice of Vegas in the California desert. The biggest draw, aside from the casino, is the entertainment. Aside from musical acts, The Show theater also books comedians, and other internationally known entertainers.
The rooms are styled in classic choices, with brown leather and tan sofas, burnt sienna accents, and sleek beige on black. In addition to standard rooms and suites, Agua Caliente also offers allergy-friendly rooms.
Bathrooms are intended to feel like roomy spa sanctuaries, including providing ROAM luxury bath products. Executive suites include jetted tubs and giant showers with multiple shower heads.
The casino is in the lobby, so guests will walk along the hustle and bustle before arriving at the multi-counter registration desk. The whole vibe is very Vegas, with lots of gold and dark wood finishes.
In addition to a jetted hot tub, guests will also find two swimming pools at Agua Caliente. The entire outdoor area, including a wet bar, grill, and ten private cabanas equipped with WiFi, spans 50,000 square feet.
The award-winning Sunstone Spa offers massage, skincare, and repair treatments. There’s also a full-service salon for hair, nail care, and waxing. Couples can book packages and the spa also provides a few services designed for men.
The fitness center is small but offers all the cardio, weights, and strength training equipment you’d expect. Guests are also able to book tee times at Indian Canyons Golf Resort.
With three on-site restaurants, a casino buffet, and a coffee shop, Java Caliente, Agua Caliente has diners covered. For a sit-down breakfast and lunch, visit Waters Cafe, while Poker Deli offers quick bites, like burgers and sandwiches. The aptly named The Steakhouse is a fine dining option that’s won several awards, including an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. As with most casino buffets, the Grand Palms Buffet has prime rib and offers discounts to frequent players and rewards club members.
Agua Caliente boasts two theaters, the larger The Show, with national acts, and the smaller The Lounge. The later is a come-and-go bar space with DJs, live bands, and drink specials.
The casino resort is located right off I-10, for easy access from other Coachella Valley towns or from Los Angeles.
This part of town, especially because of the close proximity to the 10, has more quick-serve than sit down options, but there are a few nearby gems. Joyce’s Sushi (8-minute drive) has a terrific sushi happy hour and Tony’s Burger’s (9-minute drive) has amazing burgers in a no-frills space.
Just across the highway from Agua Caliente is Coachella Valley Brewing Company (4-minute drive), where you can have a beer, sip from tasters, or take a tour of the brewing facilities. Though there are plenty of entertainment options at the resort, check out Bernie’s Lounge and Supper Club (13-minute drive) for the dinner, drinks, and a show retro vibe.
WHY WE LIKE IT
For gamblers who like to travel, Agua Caliente is a solid option. The specials and some of the touring acts are geared toward a slightly older crowd. Three gift shops, including a Swarovski outpost, are on-site. This is a large resort with a ton of spa treatments, a giant amphitheater with big headliners, and a lot of choices for things to do.
