Fodor's Expert Review Inn at Laguna Beach

211 N. Coast Hwy., Laguna Beach, California, 92651, USA

This bright yellow local landmark is stacked neatly at the north end of Laguna’s Main Beach and it's one of the few hotels in SoCal set almost on the sand. At night, the sounds of waves crashing fills the compact oceanfront rooms. Popular with Europeans, the hotel hosts a nightly wine hour on a terrace overlooking the scenic beach town. There’s a cozy pool and even cozier hot tub. In summer, there's a beach valet to set out chairs and umbrellas. You can walk to the art museum, galleries, shops, and restaurants. Rooms have a beachy feel with ceiling fans, and most have full or partial ocean views and balconies. Proximity to the beach makes this a good hotel for children. Las Brisas, a restaurant famous for its view, is located next door. Book before Memorial Day for summer weekends. Summer weekends require a two-night stay but that's fine as the location is just about perfect.
