Fodor's Review

You could spend a full day sampling wines in the tasting rooms bordering or near Sonoma Plaza, but be sure not to miss Walt, which specializes in Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, Mendocino County (just to the north), California's Central Coast, and Oregon's Willamette Valley. Walk-ins are welcome to taste several wines inside a mid-1930s Tudor-inspired home or, weather permitting, at backyard tables beneath a tall, double-trunk redwood tree. To see how winemaker Megan Gunderson Paredes's wines pair with food—in this case small bites from The Girl & the Fig across the street—make a reservation for the Root 101: A Single Vineyard Exploration. At both tastings you'll learn about the origins of this sister winery to Hall St. Helena.
