Fodor's Review

The best of the Kenwood wines—Cabernet Sauvignons, Zinfandels, Syrahs, and Merlots—are made from Sonoma Mountain AVA grapes the winery farms on the author Jack London's old vineyard. Kenwood, established in 1970, is best known for these wines, its widely distributed Sauvignon Blanc, and the Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon, named for the artworks commissioned for the labels. Collectively the Kenwood wines, made since 2003 by Pat Henderson, a protégé of the winery's locally beloved founder, the late Mike Lee, represent a survey of notable Sonoma County appellations and vineyards. A new tasting room is planned for a knoll with views across the estate; until its completion, tastings will take place in a redwood barn in which the property's original vintners began making wine in 1906.
