Fodor's Review

Although this winery was founded in 1994, grapes were grown in some of its vineyards as early as the 1830s. The emphasis is on handcrafted, single-varietal wines—Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel—made from organically farmed grapes. Photographer Eadweard Muybridge's A Vintage in California series from the 1870s is among the exhibits in a small Sonoma wine-making museum off the tasting room. You can taste at the bar ($15) without an appointment or, weather permitting, make one for a tasting in the Oak Grove (from $25) overlooking the vineyards. Surrounded by a woodsy 400-acre private park with 3 miles of marked trails, "Bart Park," a good spot for a picnic, feels off the beaten path despite being only 2 miles from downtown Sonoma.
