Lovers of the brew make pilgrimages to Bear Republic to sample the flagship Racer 5 IPA, the Hop Rod Rye, the mighty Big Bear Black Stout, and many other offerings at this craft-brew pioneer. The brewery's spacious pub is an okay stop for a casual lunch or dinner—all kinds of burgers (beef, portobello, veggie, and more), chili, pastas, and artisanal-cheese and charcuterie plates. In warm weather there's often a wait for the seats outdoors, but there's usually room inside.
