Subdued lighting, a nearly monochromatic dark-brown palette, and the clever use of metal and wooden surfaces set an urbane, almost Euro-chic tone at this restaurant that opened in early 2015. With most of its tables at bar height, Atlas comes off like a cocktail lounge, but chef Nick Ritchie, formerly of Yountville's Bottega and Rutherford's Alex Italian, lures in the foodies with a menu centered around small plates served family style. Among the early favorites were a crispy fried soft-boiled-egg upon a bed of bacon jam, red-curry mussels, citrus-braised pork-belly tacos, and an entrée-size ale-braised boneless beef rib with a root-vegetable gratin and five-onion kale.
