Why We Like It

All the comforts of home with the beach a block away makes this B&B an ideally located getaway for the creative soul looking to get inspired. Every room is unique with vintage touches and the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming and willing to help with whatever you may need. Breakfasts are hearty and healthy and there are countless restaurants, bars, and activities within walking distance. Mind the rooms with shared bathrooms, but beyond that, this charming and historic house is a piece of sanity in the middle of the craziness that is Venice Beach.

Fodor's Expert Review

A craftsman style house originally built in 1911, this cozy B&B acts as the perfect home away from home only one block from the beach. Creative types and European travelers are regulars to this charming abode, and rightfully so as the property inspires a sense of timelessness that artists and writers often crave. A rare find in a densely compacted area, The Venice Beach House will make you wish for extended breaks from your regular life.

Tip The hotel is in a very crowded area of Venice, but luckily for you if you rented a car, there are nine parking spaces for guests at only $15/night.

Room

Every room in the house is unique and bears its own name like the Warren Wilson Room (original builder of the house) or the Abbott Kinney Room (the man most known for building Venice into what it is today). All of the rooms have hardwood floors and personal touches like writing desks, vintage armoires, or private balconies.

You Should Know Of the nine rooms in the house, only five have en-suite bathrooms. The other four rooms share two bathrooms between them.

Bathroom

Lucky guests will find his and hers clawfoot tubs, or a Jacuzzi if you book the master suite. Other rooms have walk-in showers with white penny tiles.

Lobby

The living room of the house has a small breakfast nook, fireplace, cushy couches, and a standup piano. Guests are always treated to goodies like homemade granola and fresh fruit.

Gym

There’s no gym, but the house can supply you with boogie boards, surfboards, and bikes with which to explore the area.

Dining

Like most B&B’s, there’s a complimentary breakfast with your stay. Unlike most B&B’s, there’s also wine and cheese from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. every evening.

Gardens

The property is lush with foliage and there is ample outdoor sitting space with wicker furniture spread around the front and side of the building.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Walking is really your best option, but if you do rent a car, the house has dedicated parking spots. Catching an Uber or Lyft is always easy as there are drivers everywhere. As Venice goes, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more central location with access to the beach, restaurants, bars, the Boardwalk, the Canals, Marina del Rey, and more. Be aware at night, however, some parts of Venice can get a little dicey.

Restaurants

A block from the hotel on Washington Blvd, there is an entire row of restaurants (5-minute walk). Walking a little north of the house is James’ Beach (9-minute walk) famous for their fish tacos--and rightfully so.

Bars

If you want something a little different, check out Nighthawk Breakfast Bar (6-minute walk), which is a breakfast themed bar with treats like spiked milkshakes and cereals. Closer to the beach is The Venice Whaler (4-minute walk), which has live music and DJs throughout the week.
