Fodor's Expert Review Old Tucson

Northwest Tucson and Westside Film/TV Studio

Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.

This film studio–theme park, originally built for the 1940 motion picture Arizona, has been used to shoot countless movies, such as Rio Bravo (1959) and The Quick and the Dead (1994), and the TV shows Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Highway to Heaven. Actors in Western garb perform and roam the streets talking to visitors.

Youngsters enjoy the simulated gunfights, rides, and stunt shows, while adults might appreciate the screenings of old Westerns, guided studio tours, and the little-bit-bawdy Grand Palace Hotel's Dance Hall Revue. There are plenty of places to eat and to buy souvenirs. Horseback riding and stagecoach rides are available for an additional charge.
