Fodor's Expert Review McCarthy Lodge
A town with only 42 year-round residents, so far away from urban comforts, seems an unlikely place to secure a five-star meal, but that's exactly what the chefs here deliver. Alaskans drive great distances to experience meals with dishes that include veal Parmesan with tomato noodles, cabbage saffron soup, and seared local duck. Because the restaurant is so remote, the chefs have to be creative to assemble meals from ingredients grown, caught, and raised in the region. Their ability to do so has earned them national acclaim—this is a dining experience not to be missed.
