Until recently Portage Glacier was the most visited site in Alaska. The glacier has receded dramatically in the past decade, and these days it is easier to see where it used to be. The road to the glacier follows Portage Lake, where icebergs calved from the glacier still lazily float, impressing visitors with their aqua blue colors.
