Fodor's Expert Review Kulik Lodge

, Alaska, USA

Positioned along the gin-clear Kulik River, between Nonvianuk and Kulik lakes, this remote wilderness lodge is reachable only by floatplane. It accommodates up to 28 anglers and is popular as a base for fly-out fishing to hot spots in the surrounding Katmai wilderness. Guests stay in cabins with electricity and private baths. In the evening, when fishing's done for the day, everyone gathers in the spruce lodge, which has a large stone fireplace, dining area, and bar. Packages of three, four, or seven nights include airfare from Anchorage, meals, cocktails, lodging, and guiding, with a minimum of three nights required.
