Fodor's Expert Review Brooks Lodge

, Alaska, USA Fodor's Choice

Initially a fishing camp, this lodge sits in the midst of Katmai's amazing fish habitat (featuring rainbow trout, lake trout, arctic grayling, and salmon), not to mention its proximity to brown bear viewing and tours of the Valley of 10,000 Smokes. These detached modern cabins are adorned with Alaskan artwork and can house from two to four people. All cabins have heat, electricity, and private bathrooms. The cabins surround the main lodge, and its spectacular view of aquamarine Naknek Lake. The lodge has a circular stone fireplace and a dining area where buffet-style meals are served three times a day.
