Fodor's Review

As of this writing, the new Alaska State Library, Archives and Museum—called SLAM—is slated to reopen in May 2016. Constructed on the site of the old state museum on Whittier Street, the new facility is much larger—at 118,000 square feet, it will offer twice as much public exhibit space—and far more extensive. The new state-of-the-art building houses Alaska's most important objects, artifacts, books, photographs, and documents in one place, offering increased opportunities for researchers as well as more casual visitors. This promises to be one of Juneau's—and the state's—top attractions. Check the website for hours and admission.
