Fodor's Expert Review Snow City Cafe
On summer days, Snow City attracts some serious crowds—and for good reason. This modern but unassuming café, convenient to many of the Downtown hotels, serves one of Anchorage's best (and reasonably priced) breakfasts. Service is fast in the family-friendly restaurant. The breakfast menu, served all day, features inventive spins on eggs Benedict, including one topped with king crab cakes; omelets; pancakes; and more. Snow City's lunch menu, also a good value, consists of hot or cold sandwiches, fresh soups, and salads, and has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Meat eaters need look no further than the excellent cowboy meat loaf. There's a refrigerator case filled with to-go sandwiches, making the meat loaf a perfect picnic or hiking companion. If you're not an early riser, or haven't made a reservation (which you can make by phone or Web), be prepared to wait.
