Fodor's Review

Eating out in a restaurant whose name means “chickened out wuss” in French is not for the faint of heart; better bring your eating pants, because you are in for a treat. If the enticing aromas of Ma Poule Mouillée somehow fail to lure you in, then perhaps the prices will: $8 for mains and $5 for sandwiches and sides. Under no circumstance will the owner give away the components of his zingy seasoning mix, which he garnered in the kitchen of his parent’s restaurant during his childhood in Portugal. Nothing at Ma Poule Mouillée is extravagant; the key elements (grilled chicken, chorizo, calamari) are perfect as they are, prepared in the utmost Portuguese tradition. If you're not patient enough to queue to get in La Banquise across the street, this is an equally appetizing alternative.
