Fodor's Review

This is a favorite among vegans, celiacs, and vegetarians; dishes and fresh juices served here are creative, inspiring, and delicious—not to mention super healthy and chuck-full of vitamins. Aux Vivres' dining room is nothing fancy but it is cozy. A large chalkboard holds specials of the day, and the minimal booths made of blond wood mirror the spirit of the food. Try some of their gigantic sandwiches, such as the Sirocco (grilled eggplant and hummus), which comes on chapati bread, or for something a little earthier, go with the Dragon bowl, a crowd favorite of steamed bok choy, organic rice, tofu or tempeh, marinated veggies, and their perfect Dragon sauce (a tamari-base). Don't forget to order one of their scrumptious desserts; the brownie, "uncheesecake," and carrot cake are especially delicious. And if you can't get enough, visit their next-door takeout counter/market.
