Fodor's Expert Review Roseneath Bed & Breakfast

135 Dewars Rd., R.R. 6, off Rte. 4, Cardigan, Prince Edward Island, C0A 1G0, Canada

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This fine heritage home, built in 1868, faces the Brudenell River. You can golf at the adjacent Brudenell and Dundarave courses, walk or bike the Confederation Trail (which crosses the property), go trout fishing, or explore the 110 acres of woodlands (10 acres of which are garden). All rooms have views of the river or the property's extensive gardens. Morning brings coffee delivered to your room and a home-cooked breakfast downstairs. A lobster dinner can be arranged in advance in May and June. Indonesian and Arabic objects and art merge with PEI culture in a pleasing way.

PROS

  • quiet and peaceful
  • lovely garden

CONS

  • two cats on the premises, a con for those with allergies
