Fodor's Expert Review Talisman Resort Village

150 Talisman Mountain Dr., Kimberley, Ontario, N0C 1G0, Canada

Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.

Open since 1963, this small Austrian chalet–style resort has a ski hill abutting the lodge and a lovely nine-hole golf course leading up to it. Rooms, with balconies or terraces, have views of either the Beaver Valley or Talisman ski hills; decor is unremarkable, but some suites have oversize leather sofas and stone fireplaces. Outdoor hot tubs, a spa, and yoga classes can help you relax after hitting the ski slopes. The rural setting, among hills and trees, is beautiful and easily enjoyed via the 79 km (50 mi) of hiking trails. The main dining room, the Terrace, serves Canadian-Continental dishes. Talisman has plans to build a new resort village with luxury condos. Mid-March to June and mid-September to mid-December, the resort is overrun with conferences and other group events; book outside these times if possible.
