Fodor's Expert Review Red Shoe
More than a mere pub, this Cape Breton institution has evolved into an attraction in its own right, in part because it is owned by four of the Rankins, Canada's most celebrated singing siblings. There's music here just about every night, and sometimes during the day (some free, some with a cover charge of C$8–C$10), and the "Shoe" is a magnet for the finest fiddlers and step dancers. As for the food, expect the usual pub favorites: fish-and-chips, pulled-pork sandwiches, grilled salmon, stuffed chicken, and mussels steamed in ale, garlic, and bacon.
