Fodor's Expert Review Restaurant Matisse

The gracious owner greets each guest personally at this tiny gem of a traditional French restaurant, where white linens, fresh flowers, and candlelight on the dozen or so tables set the stage for meals of seasonally changing, well-executed bistro classics like crepes, rack of lamb, and smoked sable fish. The primarily French wine list has plenty of affordable options, and the bread pudding, crème brûlée, and house-made sorbets are much-loved finales. Piaf chansons on the speakers and Matisse originals on the wall add to the pleasing ambience. For adventurous diners, ask "to be fed"; the resulting multiple courses, all exquisitely paired, will be a feast to remember.
