Vancouver's first upscale vegetarian dining room, this barely bigger-than-an-acorn restaurant serves imaginative plant-based fare that does its vegetables proud. Look for dishes like beer-battered Halloumi with zucchini and potato pancake; kale Caesar salad with tempeh, olives, and smoked paprika croutons; and shiitake mushroom and black garlic cashew paté with pickled sea greens and taro chips. Many menu items are vegan, raw, or gluten-free. If you have to wait for a table, pass the time with one of their signature cocktails; the Peach Plum Pear blends bourbon, amaretto, and sparkling wine with peach plum cordial, lemon juice, and smokey pear bitters, while the Royal combines gin with elderflower liqueur, green chartreuse, lemon basil, lime juice, vanilla syrup, and pepper bitters.
