Fodor's Expert Review Rosewood Hotel Georgia

801 W. Georgia St., Vancouver, British Columbia, V6C 1P7, Canada See on Map Fodor's Choice

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia might be a newer hotel, but the property has quite the history—the historic 1927 Georgian Revival building has played hosts to some of the biggest stars from Hollywood's golden age (including Katherine Hepburn and Elvis Presley). The retro furnishings and decor create an throwback kind of glamour that makes for a one-of-a-kind luxury experience in the heart of Vancouver.

room

Rooms at The Rosewood Hotel Georgia are spacious, stylish, and provide the highest level of comfort you'll find in the city (in part thanks to the Italian linens by Rivolta Carmignani). Depending on your location, you'll enjoy views of the city skyline or the hotel's inner courtyard.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The Rosewood Hotel Georgia is located in the heart of downtown, and street noise can be an issue for guests staying on lower floors.

bathroom

From the marble tile to the heated floors, the walk-in rainforest shower to the fluffy robes, the details in the bathrooms at this property are all luxury.

lobby

The lobby, with its dark wood furnishing, crystal chandelier, and grand staircase, creates an inviting, old-time glamour feel that makes it the perfect place to relax. Cozy up next to the fireplace or take a stroll and enjoy the impressive collection of contemporary art.

pool

The indoor saltwater pool, with its art deco style and neon light installations, is a perfect (and stylish!) place to unwind after a long day exploring the city.

spa

Sense, the on-site spa at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, offers everything from facials to massages to beauty treatments to help you relax on your next visit to Vancouver. For the ultimate in relaxation, be sure to book one of their half-day packages like the "Experience Sense" package, which includes a facial, massage, manicure/pedicure, and spa lunch.

gym

The fitness center at The Rosewood Hotel Georgia is definitely on the larger side and has everything you need to get a solid workout in, including cardio and weight machines, free weights, and a Kinesis pulley machine. The fitness center is open 24/7, so feel free to stop by whenever is convenient to get your sweat on.

Need to get in some downward facing dog? Be sure to visit the adjoining yoga room, which has plenty of space to stretch and mirrors to keep an eye on your form.

dining

For an elegant dining experience, make sure to snag reservations at Hawksworth, which was voted Best Upscale Restaurant by Vancouver Magazine a whopping five times. While all the entrees are excellent, the seafood dishes (all of which is sustainably sourced) are the real standouts.

drinking

Grab a cocktail and enjoy live music most nights of the week at Prohibition, The Rosewood Hotel Georgia's speakeasy-style cocktail lounge.

LOCATION

Getting Around

Parking is pricey at The Rosewood Hotel Georgia (valet will cost you $55 per night), but the property's location in the heart of downtown makes it super convenient to explore on foot. If you want to venture out into the city, the Vancouver City Centre Station is a quick 2-minute walk away. Otherwise, hop on the bus; there are multiple bus stops within walking distance of the hotel.

Restaurants

If you're a seafood lover, you won't want to miss Coast (5-minute walk), where you can sample from one of the best oyster bars in the city. For something a bit more laid-back, try Moose’s Down Under (5-minute walk), which offers unique takes on pub classics (including to-die-for meat pies). For dessert, grab some handmade truffles at Thierry Chocolates (5-minute walk).

Bars

For a swanky night out, try Clough Club (16-minute walk), where you can enjoy inventive cocktails (like the Band on the Rum, a rum drink made with pineapple sorbet and ginger rhubarb syrup topped with IPA) in a chic, retro atmosphere. If you're more in the mood for a beer, stop by The Black Frog Eatery (14-minute walk) which has a great selection of local brews (and outdoor seating, which is a must in the warmer summer months).
