Fodor's Expert Review Pacific Sands Beach Resort
1421 Pacific Rim Hwy., Tofino, British Columbia, V0R 2Z0, Canada
On 45 acres of lawn and forest along Cox Bay, this resort offers a range of lodge rooms, waterfront suites, and beach villas, all with full kitchens, fireplaces, and private ocean-view decks or patios just steps from the beach. The bay is a magnet for surfers (though it's not safe for swimming), and the adjacent forest is a nature-lover's paradise. There's no on-site dining, but a convenience store in the lobby sells emergency rations, and the Long Beach Lodge restaurant is a five-minute walk down the beach. There's the obligatory rain gear for storm-watching and walking, plus bike rentals and, unique in Tofino, a range of kids' programs in summer. The front desk staff will help organize eco-adventure outings.
