Fodor's Review

In a log cabin near the confluence of the Athabasca and Miette rivers, this restaurant has an engagingly rustic feel, but don't let the simple architecture fool you: the cuisine is among the finest in the Canadian Rockies. Chef David Husereau sources local ingredients and does his own baking, smoking, and curing. A recent menu addition are small plates that work well for sharing. These include sides such as brussels sprouts with maple and bacon or spaghetti squash with honey and fresh nutmeg. A good entrée might be the macadamia-crusted rack of Alberta lamb, iron-seared Arctic char with sweet crab butter, or Alberta beef tenderloin with caramelized onions. The signature dessert is a hot chocolate soufflé with homemade vanilla ice cream. Excellent gluten-free dishes are available. The wine list has been thoughtfully assembled, and there's an extensive martini menu.
