Best Campgrounds in Jasper

Parks Canada operates campgrounds in Jasper National Park that have a total of 1,772 available frontcountry sites during the peak season. There is winter camping at Wapiti campground. Hookup sites are available at Whistlers and Wapiti campgrounds only, so reserve a site in advance if you are traveling during the peak summer season. In addition to standard camping sites, Parks Canada operates oTENTiks at Whistlers Campground. Columbia Icefield Campground. This rustic tent campground is near a creek and has great views of the Columbia Icefield. Hwy. 93, 106 km (66 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.

Honeymoon Lake Campground. This rustic campground is just down the road from Sunwapta Falls. With 35 sites on the shores of Honeymoon Lake, this is a good spot to bring a canoe and enjoy a peaceful paddle.Hwy. 93, 35 km (22 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.

Jonas Creek Campground. This small, primitive campground is in a quiet spot along a creek off the Icefields Parkway. Sites are first come, first served. Just off Icefields Pkwy., 75 km (47 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.

Wabasso Campground. Families flock to this campground because of its playground and many amenities. Hwy. 93A, 16 km (10 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.

Wapiti Campground. Close to Jasper, this campground is near a number of good hiking trails. A portion of Wapiti remains open during the winter. Hwy. 93, 5 km (3 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.

Whistlers Campground. This campground is the largest and has the most amenities and the greatest variety of camping options. It's the number-one choice for families because of the on-site interpretive programs at Whistlers Outdoor Theatre. Hwy. 93, 3 km (2 miles) south of Jasper Townsite.
