Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Medio Mundo
Calle 55 No. 533, between Calles 64 and 66, Mérida, Yucatán, 97000, Mexico
Painted in primary colors, this restored house in a residential part of downtown has Mediterranean accents, thick original walls, and well-preserved tile floors. The spacious guest rooms, located off a long passageway, have comfy beds and custom-made hardwood furniture. A large patio in the back features a small kidney-shape swimming pool, plus a pond with a delightful waterfall, and fountain surrounded by fruit- and flowering trees. A lovely breakfast of coffee, bread, fruit, yogurt, and granola is served poolside; many guests say the pleasant setting and flavorful coffee can turn it into a two-hour affair. A Mexican craft shop and a vegan restaurant (the Lo Que Hay Café) with a rotating fixed-price menu are also on-site.
