A modern, business hotel located in downtown Chetumal, near to the airport, the border and the bay. Widely recognized as one of the best hotels in the city, Los Cocos distinguishes itself through excellent service, contemporary design and a full range of amenities.
If planning to travel with a large group, ask for special rates when booking 5 rooms or more.
The 140 guestrooms are divided into Standard, Premier and Villa categories. They all include air conditioning, Wi-Fi access, cable TV and minibar. The décor is simple, but colorful, and besides some softwood furniture in the villas, there are not unnecessary luxuries.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Rooms don’t have safe deposit boxes. There are some security boxes on reception, although they are subject to availability.
The bathroom sinks are modern and placed on fine granite countertops. Some rooms include tub/shower combo, while others only have shower. As with the rest of the hotel, there is nothing flashy here, but nothing missing either.
Los Cocos’ lobby is a bright well-lit area with individual rattan-like sofas set around little crystal tables. A couple of L-shaped couches are located just by the little cyber café section. A handcrafts shop and a perfume boutique can also be found in the area.
Surrounded by manicured tropical gardens, loungers and the balconies and terraces of the different suites, a rectangular medium-sized swimming pool promises a cool and refreshing splash. Just a few steps further, a circular Jacuzzi completes the picture.
A fine a la carte restaurant serving delicious dishes of traditional Mexican cuisine is open from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm every day. Takeaway lunch and room service are available upon request.
Los Cocos has no specialized bar, apart from that of the restaurant where you may get a cold beer and the most common spirits.
Hotel Los Cocos is located on the main Avenue of Chetumal, in downtown, and close to the coast. It is almost a 5-hour drive from the Cancun International Airport but you can take an ADO bus that will get you to the bus terminal in Chetumal. From there, it is only a 5-minute drive by taxi. You can easily rent a car in Chetumal to enjoy the whole area around Chetumal.
El Emporio Restaurante y Parrilla (15-minute walk) serves Argentinean food in a very nice Chetumal typical building. It is really classy, one of the most elegant eateries in town, and their meat won’t disappoint you. If you are looking for local food for local people, Marisqueria El Taco Loco (10-minute walk) is the place to go. Not fancy at all, but really worth a visit.
Chetumal nightlife scene is not the most buzzing one on the Yucatan Peninsula. Rock Shots Café (10-minute walk) is a popular bar in town, with DJs and quite a good service. Nuit Bistro & Bar (15-minute drive) is a good place to pop into during the day if you crave for snacks or a beer. It has a very decent menu and don’t forget to check out their promotions on craft beer.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Because it has the perfect location in Chetumal. Rooms are clean and well-appointed. The pool and Jacuzzi area is a nice plus.
