Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Kinbé
Calle 10 Norte, between Avs. 1 and 5, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo 77710, Mexico See on Map
Located just one block from the beach and a few steps from the Fifth Avenue, Kinbé offers to its guests the best of Playa del Carmen in a comfortable setting with touches of good design. An interesting option for the budget-conscious traveler that is just looking for a nice place to sleep in central Playa and little else.
YOU SHOULD KNOW Kinbé doesn’t have any restaurant or bar on the premises of the hotel. For all meals during your stay, you will have to rely on the wide array of nearby options.
room
Rooms at Kinbé have a definitely modern style with mostly white walls and contrasting elements in bright colors. The Mini Suite has the most interesting concept, with a living room downstairs and the bed located on top of a wooden loft. Small but with style. All rooms enjoy air conditioning, Wi-Fi access and plasma TV.
Some rooms come with nice balconies overlooking the swimming pool. This is a nice spot to unwind away from the outside noise.
bathroom
The bathrooms have an original style with river stone designs on the walls and the shower’s floor. They come with single sink and hairdryer.
lobby
Directly from the street, you’ll get into Kinbé’s lobby, a wide, clear space with hardwood floor and a X-shaped front-desk. A couple modernist comfy chairs and a good collection of books are the only other elements in the area, which directs straight to the jungle-inspired hallways of the hotel.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Hotel Kinbe has an ideal location to explore Playa del Carmen. Cancun International Airport is just a 50-minute drive away and taxi is not the cheapest option. You may want to consider a collective van or even a public ADO bus that will take you to the Bus Terminal in Playa del Carmen that is only a 7-minute walk away from Kinbe. Later, to move around, you may rent a bike from many rental places around the hotel or just enjoy the area on foot. If you need to go further, rent a taxi or ask at the hotel for any other options.
Restaurants
Frida Kahlo (2-minute walk) is a restaurant that serves food and Art. Great food and their presentation is unique, go for the Frida Experience to enjoy their full presentation and 3D Art. Zenzi (1-minute walk) is another great restaurant only a block away. An early breakfast there is pure pleasure. No people, ocean view and breeze, relaxed waiters, and last but not least, delicious food.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Because it’s just one block away from the beach and a few steps from the Quinta Avenida. It’s small but still managed to include a pool. We like the stylish design of the rooms.
