San Miguel's Music Festivals

Since 1979 San Miguel has hosted August's top-notch Festival de Musica de Cámara (www.festivalsanmiguel.com), a feast of classical chamber music that includes groups from around the globe. St. Paul’s church is host to the ProMusica Festival (www.promusicasma.org) which performs at least one chamber music concert a month during its season, October through May. Despite its small size, San Miguel produces one opera a year at the beautiful Angela Peralta theater, which is also the venue for some of the concerts that comprise the five-day International Jazz & Blues Festival (www.sanmigueljazz.com.mx), which takes place mid- to late November. You can buy tickets for the concerts, workshops, and after-hours jam sessions individually or for the series. Call the tourist office or visit the event websites for details.
