Fodor's Expert Review La Ola Rica
One of San Pancho's first upscale restaurants, "The Delicious Wave," has still got it goin'. Small, medium-crust, wood-fired pizzas are just right for an appetizer (we recommend the Brie pizza with caramelized onions) or, with a soup or salad, as a delicious dinner for one. Another good appetizer is the fresh white cheese round served with warm tomato sauce and fresh basil. The margaritas are lovely, and wine by the glass is a generous portion. All of the doe-eyed, wasp-waisted waitresses are relatives of the locally born and raised co-owner, Triny. Eat to the beat of a jazz-dominated sound track: overlooking the street on the covered patio or inside the home-cum-restaurant, artfully decorated with eclectic paintings, photographs of Old Mexico, and saints in niches. Summer hours vary each season, depending on tourist traffic; it's best to call during the off-season to double-check days and hours open.
