Fodor's Expert Review NH Mexico City Reforma

Liverpool 155, Mexico City, Quintana Roo, 06600, Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico See on Map

This 1960s-era hotel, one of five in the city from this Spanish chain, underwent an extensive recent renovation. Location is just blocks from the heart of the popular Roma Norte neighborhood.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The immediate area can be crowded and noisy at night; higher floors give both views and minimal street noise.

room

Crisp and simply stylish, with a minimalist vibe, neutral colors, and hardwood floors. Robes and slippers, a pillow menu, and a Nespresso machine are nice touches.

The 700-sq. ft. suites with view and terrace can be a fantastic bargain, especially compared to comparable rooms at higher-end hotels.

bathroom

Small but airy and spa-like, with rain showers, and some with bathtubs.

pool

The large heated outdoor pool has waiter service and a large sun deck with lounge chairs.

gym

Large and with newer equipment, and open 6am to 11pm.

dining

Restaurant NH serves both international and Mexican dishes; it's a good choice on Sunday nights when other restaurants are closed.

The complimentary breakfast buffet includes sparkling wine.

drinking

The lobby bar opens at 4pm daily.

theater

There is a large performing arts theater at the hotel (Teatro NH), which offer discounted tickets to guests.

LOCATION

Getting Around

Hotel is a block from the Insurgentes subway and metrobus stations, and Zona Rosa, Roma, and Juárez neighborhoods are all walkable.

Restaurants

Contramar (9-minute walk) is the best seafood restaurant in town. The breakfasts are especially good at Oaxacan restaurant Barro Negro (8-minute walk). Don't be confused by the name: Bellinghausen (5-minute walk) is one of the oldest and most traditional Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood.

Bars

Xaman (8-minute walk) is an ultra-hip speakeasy. Maison Artemisia (10-minute walk) is a cozy, retro-minded cocktail bar specializing in absinthe.

WHY WE LIKE IT

A modern, renovated choice in an area with a lot of tired and outdated hotels. Most of the quality and extras of a luxury hotel for a lower price.
