This refurbished older hotel on a busy street in the heart of downtown is a bargain, with many of the amenities of the more upscale hotels at less than half the price. Public areas sparkle with marble and glass. If your room doesn't have a view, the small terrace is a great place to watch the sun set over the Zócalo.

The hotel offers a same-day laundry and dry cleaning service.

Getting Around

An ideal location for exploring the Centro Histórico on foot, but take a car after dark.

Restaurants

Located in a historic 17th-century building, Limosneros riffs on traditional dishes (like pork ribs in a sauce of mezcal, agave syrup, and smoked morita chile) with wildly artistic plating. Azul Histórico (9-minute walk) is a branch of chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita's pioneering Azul group of restaurants; here, you dine under candlelit chandeliers dangling from trees.

Bars

Bar La Faena (12-minute walk) is a bare-bones cantina that doubles as a bullfighting museum, with yellowing posters and baroque bullfighting costumes preserved under smoke-stained acrylic vitrines. Opened in 1928, Salón Corona Bolivar (11-minute walk) is the beer conglomerate's original cantina.
