Water Sports

The two most popular activities are snorkeling tours to Deer Island and parasailing—nearly every hotel offers both, along with kayak and Jet Ski rentals. A few outfitters, including the Aqua Sport Center, offer scuba, but Mazatlán is not a popular diving area.

Aqua Adventures rents kayaks ($12–$15 an hour) and WaveRunners ($60 an hour) and offers short parasailing and banana-boat rides. Royal Villas Resort, Av. Camarón Sábalo 500, Zona Dorada, Mazatlán, Sinaloa, 82110. 669/916–6161.

AquaSport Center offers banana boat and parasailing rides and rents WaveRunners, kayaks, Boogie boards, and sailboats. Its staffers can also arrange half-day trimaran trips to Isla de los Venados aboard the Kolonahe, docked at El Cid Marina. Av. Camarón Sábalo s/n, next to Hotel La Puesta del Sol, Zona Dorada, Mazatlán, Sinaloa, 82110. 669/913–3333 Ext. 3341.

The 4-acre Parque Acuático Mazagua has slides, wading pools, and a wave pool as well as picnic facilities with barbecue grills. Entrance is about $12 per person; the park is open 10–6 Wednesday through Sunday for most of the year and daily in July, August, and during school holidays. Av.
