Isla Navidad Country Club. The late Robert Von Hagge mapped out the impressive 27-hole Isla Navidad course in the Grand Isla Navidad resort complex, about 30 minutes north of Manzanillo. The complex is broken down into the Lagoon 9, the Ocean 9, and the Mountain 9. Those names describe the signature geographical feature visible from each 9-hole section, although much of the course does front the Pacific Ocean. The expansive clubhouse has a pro shop where you can arrange lessons, a restaurant-bar, and men's and women's locker rooms with steam, sauna, and whirlpools. A cart is included in the greens fee; a caddy is mandatory. Grand Isla Navidad Resort, Manzanillo, Colima, 28860. 315/355–6439. www.islanavidad.com. $240 for 18 holes; caddy $30. 27 holes. La Mantarraya. Pete and Roy Dye designed La Mantarraya, the 18-hole golf course at the aptly named Las Hadas Golf Resort & Marina. The course's website gives an exceptionally detailed description of each hole with a preview of the obstacles you will face. Count the 4,000 palm trees and the ocean that surround the course as part of the scenic but challenging setting. The course provides club rentals and caddies, as well as driving range, practice area, and putting greens, and the resort features popular two-day, three-night golf packages. Av.
