Fodor’s Expert Review
Platters of chiles rellenos, enchiladas, tamales, and guacamole are served on El Charro's heavy wooden picnic tables below enormous piñatas dangling from the rafters. Plump chickens slowly turn over a wood fire by the front window, and the aroma of simmering beans fills the air here. A spiral staircase leads to a second floor of this hacienda-style restaurant, known as much for its margaritas as for its moles. Offering a hearty taste of traditional fare, the Mexican combo comes with enchiladas, tacos, tamales, rice and beans. If you still have room, try the soft caramel flan.
