Fodor's Expert Review Hacienda Todos los Santos
End of Benito Juárez, Todos Santos, Baja California Sur 23300, México See on Map
Within each of the three casitas (guesthouses) here, you'll find canopied beds and antique art. The four suites in Casa de Los Santos are quite different, but all have Saltillo-tiled floors, hand-carved furniture, and plenty of windows. One, Casa Santa Luz, has a wood-burning fireplace. The houses are surrounded by palms, bamboo, and flower-filled gardens.
room
Hacienda style guest houses feature comfy king or queen-sized beds, expansive living areas, and picturesque terrace seating overlooking a grove of palm trees. Kitchens and wet bars are also included, as are decorative accents, regional artworks, and superb photographs of local landscapes by the owner’s son.
bathroom
Hand-painted Talavera style counters and sinks, wood cabinetry, tile floors, and silver gilt framed mirrors are among the many elegant bathroom touches.
pool
Hacienda Todos Los Santos boasts what is believed to be the oldest swimming pool in Todos Santos, a 1950s era pool that dates to the days when the property was a hunting getaway for guests at landmark Baja California Sur lodging Rancho Las Cruces.
spa
There is no spa, but massage services are available.
LOCATION
Getting Around
Located at one end of downtown Todos Santos’ main street, Calle Benito Juárez, Hacienda Todos Los Santos is within easy walking distance of shops, galleries, restaurants, and the old mission church, Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
Restaurants
It’s a short walk to La Coronela (3-minutes on Calle Benito Juarez), the Hotel California based eatery helmed by talented Belgian chef Dany Lamote. Los Adobes de Todos Santos (10-minute walk to Calle Hidalgo) is the premier local stop for traditional Mexican cuisine and features a terrace dining area bounded by a beautiful garden.
WHY WE LIKE IT
With its lovely fountain and gardens, and exquisitely appointed casitas, Hacienda Todos Los Santos is among the most charming of Todos Santos’ boutique hotels. The owner is a member of the first family of regional hoteliers: the granddaughter of former Baja California governor and Mexican president Abelardo Rodríguez: and the daughter of Rod Rodríguez, the man who pioneered tourism in the region with early resorts Rancho Las Cruces, Hotel Palmilla, and Hotel Hacienda.
