Fodor’s Expert Review

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The forest setting feels primeval, but the decor at this handsome mountain retreat is a sophisticated mix of plush, contemporary furniture with wood and stone; two streams run through the forested property, supplying a natural, burbling sound track. Downstairs living and dining rooms face a wall of sliding glass doors looking onto a stone-deck pool in the jungle and a slice of ocean for a view. A curved stone stairway leads up to two luxurious, large rooms that share a spacious bath. A huge upstairs suite and a slightly smaller regular room have private porches, decadent bathrooms with deep tubs, antique armoires, and gleaming hardwood floors. The creek-side suite has its own TV, air-conditioning, and a romantic whirlpool tub on a private terrace. Host Yvonne de Necochea is full of energy and makes every guest feel at home.
