Fodor's Expert Review Best Western Hotel Zima
Half-block east of Pan-American Hwy., San Isidro, San José, 11901, Costa Rica
Within walking distance of the main bus station, this Best Western is in an industrial area, but the property is a mini-oasis of relative calm, with green mountain views from the pool. This hotel has pleasant 1950s-style bungalows with air-conditioning in every room and queen-size beds and bathtubs in superior rooms. Rooms 25 to 28 have views of distant Chirripó. Bungalows are arranged in an attractively landscaped row, leading to a swimming pool and a terrace restaurant with a barbecue. There's also Wi-Fi and a small outdoor gym. The terrace restaurant serves all meals, or cross the highway and forage among the inexpensive eateries. The hotel is often the venue for wedding showers and kids' birthday and First Holy Communion parties, so you may get an interesting glimpse of tico culture.
