Fodor's Expert Review Tin Jo
The colorful dining rooms of this converted house just southeast of downtown evoke Japan, India, China, Indonesia, and Thailand. In the Thai Room, a 39-foot mural depicts a Buddhist temple. You can select from all the above cuisines—there are a few Filipino and Vietnamese dishes, too—with menus to match the various dining areas. Start with a powerful Singapore sling (brandy and fruit juices) before trying such treats as kaeng (Thai shrimp and pineapple curry in coconut milk), mu shu (a beef, chicken, or vegetable stir-fry with crepes), samosas (stuffed savory Indian pastries), and sushi rolls. The vegetarian menu is extensive. Tin Jo stands out with always-exceptional food, attention to detail, and attentive service that make it, hands down, the country's top Asian restaurant.
