The downtown's best and priciest accommodations (though they pale in comparison to Manuel Antonio properties) have all the perks and ho-hum blandness of a chain hotel, and only two rooms have sea views (marred by power lines). The rest have private or semiprivate balconies that face the pool, a waterfall, or a side street. Blue carpet and blue tile bathrooms make the rooms seem rather dark and small, but the standards are a bargain, and superior rooms are double the price. Skip the restaurant on the third floor since there are better options in town. Unless you're into gambling or want to be based in Quepos, opt for a hotel in neighboring Manuel Antonio.
